Zadok is the antagonist along with Annas, his side-kick, both generic characters, a compilation of and representation of the many priests that plagued Jesus’ three year ministry. Jesus was always warning the people of the hypocrisy of the religious order who would say one thing and do another, who loved money and despised the poor, who would do most any diabolical thing to maintain control over their religious institutions and positions of power. Zadok and Annas tried many times to trip Jesus up with clever questions to no avail.
