Matthew

Stefan Shterev

Matthew, also known as Levi, a son of Alphaeus and brother of James the lesser, was a hated tax collector for the Roman occupation in Capernaum, in Galilee. But when Jesus said, ‘Follow me,’ Matthew gave up everything and followed Jesus. Matthew wrote a detailed, eyewitness account in his Gospel of Matthew.

He suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, impaled on a pole.
